Folktales are often used to teach history or for teaching moral lessons.

As an up-and-coming children’s author, it is imperative that I create stories that come from my soul and present them in a new-age fashion. I grew up in Greenwood, South Carolina and was heavily influenced by African American folklore culture.

As a kid, I attended an African American Methodist Episcopal church every Sunday dressed in the finest. Family gatherings and dinners were a tradition. Many folktales were a part of my bedtime regime and overall daily life. Raised by my grandma and her six siblings, I heard different magical and great stories. I remember that each of them carries a rabbit’s foot as it brings you luck and prosperity.

I wanted to share all these great stories with the world and create children’s books that reflected my upbringing, my experiences, and the culture that I come from. I want my stories to show where I have been and where I am going. I want them to reflect on my journey, trials, and triumphs.

Folktales are often used to teach history or for teaching moral lessons. As a mom and a storyteller, I’d like to inspire kids that they are special and unique just the way they are and that they can accomplish anything they set their minds to. We are all special and unique, and that is something that we should all embrace. You must believe in yourself, and the magic on the inside will take over and produce the love of self.

I want children to relate to the characters and the situations that I have described. I want them to connect to their own experiences and feel the magic that comes with believing in yourself and your ability to create magic on the inside.

I want kids to learn that there will always be mean people in this world in my stories. The most important thing is to know that when you believe in yourself, it creates unstoppable magic on the inside that produces self-love. As long as you continue to believe in yourself, you will be fine.

I want to use my platform to inspire and empower children and give them a glimpse into a world full of magic, adventure, and a love for themselves.
